3Dsolve Announces New Art Director
Damon Conn
Conn Also Speaker for School of Communication
Arts Commencement
CARY, N.C. (April 11, 2007) 3Dsolve,
The Simulation Learning Company, today announced the
hiring of Damon Conn to lead its talented staff of artists.
Conn brings to 3Dsolve more than ten years of experience
in artistic leadership for some of the most recognizable
computer and video game franchises to date. Conn moved
to the Triangle from Los Angeles to take the position
with 3Dsolve and spoke at the winter commencement ceremonies
for the School of Communication Arts in Raleigh, N.C.
on March 23, 2007.
As art director, Conn will set benchmarks
for an elite level of quality by working at the production
level of simulation and game development. This will
entail providing a clear artistic vision through conceptualization
and cross-functional communication, instituting new
creative techniques, managing the production pipeline,
and fulfilling staffing needs.
Conn, who is a veteran director of eight
years, started his career in 1996 at Los Angeles
Westwood Studios, a division of Electronic Arts (EA),
where he worked as a character animator and cinematics
artist on the Blade Runner computer game.
In 1999, Conn co-founded 7 Studios, where
he raised a team of over 40 artists within eight years.
During this period he served as art director for numerous
game projects, including: Legion: The Legend of Excalibur,
Defender, Fantastic Four, Pirates of the Caribbean:
The Legend of Jack Sparrow, and The Sopranos: The Road
to Respect. While working on these titles, Conn had
the honor of recreating 3D likenesses of actors such
as Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, and Chris Evans, all
from Fantastic Four, as well as James Gandolfini, Tony
Sirico, and Steve Van Zandt of The Sopranos. Conns
model of James Gandolfini won honors for 7 Studios at
the Spike TV Video Game Awards in 2006.
Damon is a veteran in his field
and his extensive background and experience make him
an asset to our team and to our customers, said
Richard Boyd, chief executive officer of 3Dsolve. This
industry requires that the most creative and innovative
minds be at the forefront of design, and Damons
artistic leadership and quality of work will enhance
our teams capabilities.
Conn received his Bachelor of Fine Arts
from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
